Avoid ATM Fraud - J V Crum, III, Conscious Millionaire Coaching
I was in Brazil in June - only to come back and within 4 weeks to have had thousands of dollars missing from my checking account.
How? I used my ATM card - and here's the crime angle. And, by the way, this happens in the USA as well. Crime rings add a second attachment, about 1 inch deep, that goes in front of the area on the ATM machine that you use to slide your card into it - then they add an extra camera to record your PIN #s as you punch them in.
Then they reproduce the card and go around to ATM's making withdrawals until the Bank - or YOU, catch on and then have the bank account frozen.
When you use your ATM, look at the machine carefully for any protruding part where you put your card in - notice if it looks like one piece of like there is an added part to it. Being aware of what can happen and then being careful any time you use your ATM is the best step in stopping Fraud.
My Bank replaced the money - but I went through a lot of hassles’ in the process.
